Performance & Public Forum

A circular pavilion made of construction scaffolding and mesh netting floats in the middle of the Hudson River, blocking a critical transportation and economic artery of the city. Piers connect the pavilion to land, with key connections in Manhattan and northern New Jersey. Inside the pavilion, performances bring community together in protest through song and dance. A bespoke protest garment is made of the same mesh fabric used for the facade of the building, turning an architectural material of both concealment and broadcast into a textile for uniform clothing and collective action.
